In Moldova 4 October is considered to be Teachers Day. In order to express our respect for retired teachers we invited a group of young volunteers to help them. Project was organized in Giurgiulesti village. Giurgiulesti is the last village in Moldova. After the village follows famous Moldovas river called Prut. There is a reason why we would mention this fact, cause this river witnessed interesting historical events, connected with breakdown of communism in Moldova, and unity march between Moldova and Romania. So, we had very special feelings organizing this project. The atmosphere was special and bright.
Volunteers did a variety of work: woodcutting, farmstead cleaning, corn harvesting, etc.
SFP Moldova initiated this service activity as a part of 3 days seminar organized by IEF Moldova. Seminar topic was Youth will change the world. We have to mention the fact that young people at their own homes, every single day would do the job, which they have done during our project. We could say that there was nothing really new or interesting for them. So we were wondering their reaction will be like during the project. Even they have done such job every day at their homes; still they manifested a good heart and tendency to help older people. Same kind of job tasted very different cause they did it with a clear unselfish motivation. People were saying they would never expect help from young people our days, so it was a really nice surprise for them. We hope young people that participated in our project from now on will be constantly helping older people. Is very important to never forget that any of us will find him or her self to be an old person that needs young peoples help.
